Soldier On! assists members of the British armed forces who have been made redundant on medical grounds make a successful transition into civilian employment.

Our approach is unique. We aim to educate our students to manage their own careers, thereby engendering self-sufficiency and dignity, as well as offering the best chance for students to move into new long term careers rather than short term jobs. We take time to work with our students on an individual basis, helping them to understand their unique set of capabilities, rather than taking a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Our career management pathway empowers our students to better understand who they are, where they want to go and how they are going to get there. The answers to these questions allow us to support students into roles which are relevant to them.

We work with both service leavers and veterans who have been wounded on operations, sustained injuries whilst serving or have been discharged through any other forms of ill health. Year on year, Soldier On! has continued to develop its unique offering and grow its service delivery. In 2013/14 we supported 85 medically discharged veterans.

With 2000 personnel being medically discharged each year, our three-year strategic plan will see our charity grow without losing the individual touch. In order to support the delivery of our strategic plan, we are seeking new trustees to join our board.

As a small organisation our Board of Trustees is hands on. Our new Trustees are likely to have close and senior contacts within the City and the wider business world, as well as having the motivation and drive to steer the charity through its current challenges: fundraising, media, marketing and awareness, and continuing to build our business network.

Volunteer Partnerships Co-ordinator

Are you a great researcher, sales person, negotiator? Do you think creatively and laterally, with the ability to turn ideas into reality? Would you like to use your talents to help connect Soldier On! with businesses and organisations we could work in partnership with to further our objectives.

Working from home, and supported directly by our Chairman and Managing Director, you would be finding partnership opportunities for Soldier On!. This could be negotiating a fundraising or merchandising deal with a retail outlet or obtaining donated products or services for use on our workshops.

This volunteer position is likely to require 3-5 hours a week. We will pay for travel and subsistence as per our expenses policy.
